Notorious Barfield Excuses
HRGB sell tea-towels with various excuses people have used -
and we now have enough to make one ourselves!
- "I thought red meant right hand"
- "My clapper's turning round"
- "It's Glenn Miller - you're supposed
to play it wrong..."
- "I don't play F sharp when it's G flat, do I?"
- "That's not red - it's red sharp"
- "Well, it sounds better like I
was playing it"
- "This is old music - the greens are
reds, except where they're blues"
- "I forgot to put page 3a in, so I
had to go back to 1 then to 4"
- "I turned the bell round so it
would play quietly - then it didn't ring at all"
- "You know we never play White
Christmas right the first week"
- "I could see Bill - it put me off"
- "I didn't have the bells turned
round like I usually do, so you could hear what I was ringing"
- "Oh, you meant that Pie Jesu?"
